Gratitude for the Sun and the Moon.

28 Days of Gratitude – Day 5

Today I am grateful for the sun and the moon. Have you ever pondered on this thought that the sun and the moon revolve around you and I? They slowly move around the Earth and show up in our lives each and every day… no matter what might be happening.

We observe great beauty through the sunrise, the sunset and through each different phase of the moon cycle.

I personally reside in Australia…

I do understand that there are countries where they observe a polar night; or where they observe a midnight sun for part of the year. It would be kind of fascinating to spend some time in those countries for just a while – but I think I will always prefer the constant of both the sun and the moon.

Where I choose to live, as sure as the sun will set today, it will rise again tomorrow. What if it didn’t? It has never failed me before. Sometimes it hides amongst the clouds, but it’s still there. To me, the sun and the moon remain a constant. I am of the assumption that they will continue to be there for me, no matter what.

Even during the New Moon phase, when we observe the black and invisible moon… it is not that the moon is not there. It is still there. It is just not illuminated by the sun – and so it is practically invisible to the naked eye.

I love it when the beams from the sun or the moon manage to find their way through the window. I love the brilliant blue of the sky we so often observe… especially when there is little to no clouds.

I love it when the sun or the moon manage to peek through that sky full of clouds. I appreciate the beautiful reflection that we can visually see within a body of water – that is only made available through the presence of the sun or the moon. When I go for a walk along the beach of a morning, I appreciate how the morning sun feels upon my skin.

The sun creates this feel “good sensation” within us. If we are deprived of the sun, it is well known it can impact our mental health. And so, I express just how grateful I am for the sun and the brilliant blue sky that I observe today. I am grateful that I am able to get out of bed each morning and be truly present and appreciate the many moments.

I am grateful for the New Moon that is upon us. New Moon’s are known to be a good time to set our intentions. And I am grateful for the different energies that I feel through the different phases of the moon. Sometimes the full moon seems to bring with it feelings of melancholy. BUT I feel a shift – and I realise that the energy of the moon offered great clarity on what once was hidden. The energy of the Full Moon is feared by some; I have finally reached a place where I appreciate and embrace whatever beauty it brings. There is as much beauty within my darkness as there is within my light.

I have great love for both the sun and the moon. I will always hold them in my heart – in appreciation of the fact that they have always and will always show up for me, no matter what.
