The Martyr, People Pleaser and the Victim

Inspirational at first, but then goes a little deeper, to what's under the surface...

As the saying goes, “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.”

Many of us forget the beauty of self. We might think it to be conceited and wrong to embrace our own beauty. We learn to raise other’s up on a pedestal; and we see it as their job to do the same for us.

The world suggests that it is through ego that we build ourselves up. So, in our journey to try and do the right thing and try to squash our ego we might unintentionally step into the roles of martyr and people pleaser.

We might become imbalanced, yet we might assume that we provide balance. We might become enmeshed in the relationship. And we unintentionally affirm the unhealthy behaviours of those around us. We are all the teacher… BUT we are also the student.

I used to think of myself as the victim. It truly helps nobody to dwell on this thought that we are the victim. We do both ourselves and those around us a disservice when we think this way. We all choose what we give energy to. Make your choice a good one.

This content is created by Rachel Reeves, who has always been a deep thinker. She previously played the supporting role in the lives of those around her, and very much held back on sharing this gift fully with other's. This is Rachel stepping very much out of her comfort zone, into what she now knows to be her inner calling, and sharing her thoughts with the world.
