Today I'm Grateful for Op Shops, Unique Clothing, Quirky Shoes, and Colour.

28 Days of Gratitude ---- DAY 3

Today I express my gratitude for and celebrate op shops, unique clothing, quirky shoes, and colour.

I love visiting op shops. It’s not just the love of the bargain, but the appreciation of what is already in existence. As a society, I’m sure you would agree, we tend to consume more than we need. And so, we can honour Gaia by reusing what is still beautifully unique and functional. I love sifting through the racks… and finding that bright colourful shirt, or dress, or whatever.

I have found the colourful creations to hold good energy for the most part. It was probably pre-loved by another high vibrational freedom loving beauty… a fellow unicorn with a zest for life, who pays no mind to this thought that we must place ourselves into some sort of worldly box should we wish to belong.

I find an abundance of different creations to choose from when I visit the op shop. The other awesome thing is that many of the clothes are no longer being made, which makes the outfits that I choose uniquely mine. If you currently have or have had either of the dresses in the two pictures, I would love to hear… as this would no doubt be a rarity.

I love colour. I’m learning to embrace colour within my life and within my clothes. Yellow, red and orange have always been my favourite colours – I either lean in to vibrant and bright colours, or I head the total opposite direction and choose black, lol. But bright always has this tendency to bring me to life… to brighten my day.

Even when I lean more into black, these days I tend to counteract the dark with the bright… my Red Converse Shoes or Flowery Doc’s. I cannot help myself. This is me. To embrace who we are through our appearance allows us to reflect outside of ourselves a little piece of our inner beauty.

I’m one of those people who doesn’t tend to look to what’s fashionable in the moment. I have my own unique style… and I’d rather embrace that, than look to the Fashion Gods to tell me what to wear. I’m perhaps a little bit of a rebel in this way, lol. Or perhaps I’m just not interested in fashion.

Does this mean I’m not fashionable? Do I care? What is fashion anyway? To me, it’s just a passing trend.

I have managed to create my own perhaps crazy random style, that will always be in fashion in my eyes lol. If you would like to tell me what’s in fashion and what’s not, then be my guest … but don’t expect me to stay awake for the entire conversation, lol. I have chosen to become my own Fashion Goddess, because why not? I see absolutely no need to reach to be that person the world says that I should be. In my eyes, to reach and adjust would take me to a world where I am inauthentic and lying to both myself and the world – why would I even think of doing that?

People have said, “Oh that looks beautiful, but a bit young for me to wear.” This is something I have never understood. I’ll probably still be wearing the same bright random crazy clothes at 72. Cause, why not? I’ll likely still be a gamer. I’ll probably continue to crazy dance in the shower. Or start weird yelling at myself in the mirror for no reason at all. I have this tendency to embrace my weirdness even more when nobodies looking lol. So pretend you’re not there; and you might just see some dang weird pickles. This is the person that I am. These are the things that I do. I choose who I am today… and I make a conscious choice to choose who I am in all my tomorrows.

Do you love op shops and quirky colourful random clothing? Or have you allowed a different style to shine through? I’d love to know how many beautiful unicorns are willing to stand with me in appreciation for who they are. Or are you choosing to allow your authenticity off the leash super carefully, so that you don't end up breaking yourself? That's how I started.

I personally began on this journey towards embracing my authenticity when I was 30. It's taken me a good 10-11 years to finally embrace and accept me for me. Personally, my aim has become to make my outer world a reflection of my inner world. Cause, why not? I would love for you to join me in being authentically me... not by becoming me... but by becoming authentically you.

I would encourage you if you feel called, to join me on this gratitude journey. Please consider sharing at least one thing per day for the 28 days that you are truly grateful for If you would rather not share with friends, then feel free to join Embracing Our Inner Unicorn, where you can share with people on a similar journey to yourself. You can start now, or wait till you have more time to spare. It's up to you.

Thank you for reading. Wishing you so many blessings today and always.
