That Moment of Exhaustion

Exhaustion. We’ve all felt it at some point or another.

Today I feel like climbing back in bed and hugging that teddy I don’t have. Wait, perhaps I still have one of my old teddies? I sure do. A teddy that was well loved and one of my absolute favourites as a child.

Basically I feel like leaning into my creature comforts.

But in this crazy busy world we seem to be conditioned to think we must push beyond the exhaustion.

I woke up way too early this morning. I’ve been waking early in general, but this morning I’m pretty sure it was 2.49am when I looked at the clock.

I have no clue why I woke so early. I was so fricken wired. Yet, as I jot down these words at 9.29am… I feel absolutely exhausted.

We get exhausted for different reasons. Our body lets us know. It gives us the good old talking to and warns us to take some time out to ourselves. But do we listen? And if we don’t listen, will we perhaps pay later - with interest?

I think I’ll head off now and get some rest. It feels like I’m doing so before the day has even started, but the truth is - my days started about 7 hours ago.

I don’t feel bad about my choice. My body has warned that I need to stop for a bit - and I choose to listen to its whispers.

Loves you all. Always remember that it’s OK to stop for just a moment and breathe. It’s important to show yourself you care.

You will always understand your needs and wants so much better than anybody else in this world. And the one person you can always rely on (assuming you’ve been figuring out the self-love thing) will be you.
